Hello and happy Sunday :) As it is Sunday, it's time for my weekly Self-Imposed Year of Projects update. We're already at the 10th update. I suppose that makes sense as it's March....again, when did all that happen?!

I've not finished anything new this week. I did, however, take Little Man to the park for a photo shoot. He was much more cooperative than Stormageddon. I got a scant couple of good photos of Stormageddon but Little Man was fabulous :) I have four or five photos I can use of him both in the pattern and on the pattern page (when it finally goes live). So, there's that...

6. Stitch's Rock Collection (of Hats) - Variegated: started February 27, 2014

This past week was spent working on the hat pattern, which is almost ready to go. But, when I was working on that, I worked a bit on my Traveling Socks, Wink, and the SRC(oH) hat. My Traveling Socks are just working their way down to the toe, albeit slowly. I pulled out my provisional cast on and picked up all the stitches to continue going the other way on the left collar of Wink. I say "pulled out" the cast on....really, I was tinking from the wrong end, which meant a lot of pulling of yarn through holes and around stitches and under itself and so on. It was kind of a pain in the ass, to be honest. I didn't exactly do a provisional cast on, which was part of the problem. I just knit the number of stitches I needed onto waste yarn, and then started with the actual yarn for the first row....but it worked so I'm not too fussed about it. It was quite a production and was probably really funny to watch. I also finished up the ribbing and have finally started the pattern portion of my new hat. I'm reallllly hoping I don't run out of yarn before then.

I've got Startitis again. This may be due, in part, to the impending arrival of spring, though it may also be because I'm sick to death of doing the same pattern for the third time. I could be wrong, though. I do plan to start a pair of fingerless mitts, specifically the Sorin Fingerless Mitts. If you've forgotten or if you're new, I made the matching Sorin hat for my bestie for this past Christmas. She's coming out in less than a week (EEEEEEP!) so I thought I'd make her the matching fingerless mitts, even though I made her mittens to go with said hat already. I should have enough yarn left to make them...here's to hoping :) I think I can knock these out in a week...or something. We'll see. I'd like a break from the hat and it's pattern and since I've done the Sorin hat already, I have an idea what I'm getting into. So.......perhaps those :)

In "real life" news, Stormageddon had his six month appointment on Thursday. The statistics are: 17 lbs, 8.5 oz (~ 50th percentile), 26.75" long (~ 50th percentile), and his head circumference was 16.42" (8th percentile - yes, he has a small head for his age). He's hitting his milestones: he can roll from his back to his tummy in both directions and from his tummy to his back in both directions. He's working on sitting without supports. Right now, he needs someone to help keep him steady but that can just be holding onto Mama's finger. He loves his bouncer, he loves his rattle, and he loves anything he can get into his mouth. He's still teething but I can feel the bumps. Poor kiddo. Little Man had four teeth by this age.

Little Man is......well.....he's Little Man. Apparently he made quite the impression on a little girl he met at the park about a week and a half ago. They played pirates and both just loved it. In the meantime, the little girl went home and told her mom and her grandparents and her aunts and her uncles and her cousins all about Little Man and every time they went to the park, she was looking for him. How did I find out about this? We were at Costco on Thursday afternoon and we ran into them in the parking lot. It was adorable.

There's not much else going on around here. I started physical therapy for my back this past week. What is so infuriating about this is that I've complained about part of this issue for 20 years: it's like I have too much arch in my lower back because I have a big butt so I can't lay on my back. I've had at least four doctors tell me that I was wrong. Turns out, I'm not exactly wrong. That is basically what is going on. So, we're going to work on taking care of that. Hooooray!

Here are some photos from this past week.....

Watching videos with the pillowdog.

Flying his Spiderman kite

Working on his army crawl.

Jumping in the jumper!

I hope you're all having a lovely weekend :)

  1. Gorgeous photos! I was interested to hear about tinking from the wrong end - it's not something I've ever seen or considered. Sounds like a PITA though, so maybe I'll stay blissfully ignorant.

    And "pillowdog" .... LOL!

  2. How frustrating for you diagnosing yourself but nobody believing you. Shee-shas! Takes me back to the time when the clinic doc told me the weird rash was because of tight underwear. Then me and my mum went on the internet and I diagnosed myself with shingles. I love reading about your handsome boys. LOVE how Little Man made a girlfriend and played pirates all over the park. Too cute!
