29. Susan's Hat (V2): started November 3, 2013; finished November 10, 2013

I haven't done a full write-up of my latest hat because it's still drying in the bathroom...but, let's just say that Malabrigo Chunky yarn will grow. And grow. And make what was once a rather nice beanie into somewhat of a too-wide slouch...

We'll see how it goes. I think it's going to take a trip through the dryer first.

Works-in-Progress (WIPs)
1. Baby Surprise Jacket: started May 27, 2013
2. Traveling Vines Socks (Adult): started May 31, 2013
3. Dragon's Egg Socks: started September 2, 2013

My WIP list is back down to three since I finished the hat and haven't started anything new. This is perfectly acceptable. I finished the first of my Traveling Vines socks on Wednesday night and have started the second sock. I'm currently working on the leg of that one. I expect that the second sock will go significantly faster than the first one since I'm just making a copy instead of taking notes and working on the pattern and working on the sock. Here's hoping that it doesn't take me five and a half months to make another sock. That would suck a lot.

Other than the hat and the sock, I haven't worked on anything else. It's been kind of a "down" week around here. I've been really tired and not feeling 100% so I've been sleeping instead of knitting. I'm hoping things pick back up next week.

I have approximately six weeks left for the year and I still have so many things left that I want to do...and yes, I'm still dreaming about my next project. But, here's what I have left for this year:

Children's Items
1. "Little 16" Newborn Socks
2. Alvin Sweater
3. Milo

Items for Me (Selfish Knitting FTW!)
1. Rose's Wrist Warmers
2. Zombie ViXen Fingerless Mitts

Household Items
1. Halloween Creepy Cloths (2)
2. Assorted Harry Potter Cloths
3. Assorted Doctor Who Cloths

Designs (which may or may not be soooper seeekrit)
1. Little Man's Baby Blanket
2. Susan's Hat (4 versions) (yes, I've mostly sussed out one version but it's still on this list)
3. Assorted dishcloths (set of 12?)
4. Traveling Vines Scarf
5. Traveling Vines Socks (baby and adult-sized as well) - yes, this is a WIP...still working on it...
6. Pinwheel Market Bag
7. Anything else that comes along (I have a notebook or two or seventeen somewhere with potential designs and random ideas)

In "real" life, not much has been going on. Little Man got his flu shot last Monday as part of his 3 year appointment with his new pediatrician. I've been bordering on sick. We've been trying to clean up the house after the birthday party and that has led to some new acquisitions (translation: I needed containers for all the Legos he got for his birthday)...and that's about it. Nothing exciting going on around here, sadly.

Anyway, I hope you're all having a lovely weekend and such :)

  1. Good for you on taking it easy. Oh boy the little toy parts. It took me almost four hours to help my kids clean up every bit of their limited play area.

  3. Oh I really hope your nice beanie won't be ruined! Keeping my fingers crossed for you! And I have been feeling a bit under the weather too, and getting rest when you feel you need it seems like the best thing to do, right? I hope you'll feel better soon!

  4. Ah lego, we have the same problem here with it strewn pretty much on all surfaces. My boys from big to small love it, me not so much. It's quite sore on the feet. Glad to here your taking it easy especially if you've been feeling under the weather some. Hope you feel more yourself soon.

  5. One of the reasons I've avoided all things that must fit, I would hate for a nice FO to become a huge or tiny useless item... I hope the trip through the dryer helps

  6. We have yet to discover Lego, and long may that last! I hope the hat is ok, and I am sure the second sock will not take quite as long !
